Aruba and Juniper Solutions Support Education Innovation at East Greenwich High School

Recognized as the top performing school in Rhode Island – and the state’s only public school to be ranked among Newsweek’s list of America’s best high schools – East Greenwich High School set out to implement a bold wireless education initiative. Dubbed the “1-to-1” project, this effort would equip each East Greenwich student with a Google Chromebook tablet in the near future. The school would be the first high school in the state to achieve this goal, and the tablets would be firmly integrated into the full complement of classes and teacher professional development taking place at East Greenwich High School.

In addition to the new wireless network infrastructure that the project would necessitate, the East Greenwich school district also identified the need to upgrade the school’s Ethernet data switches to incorporate better security and bandwidth management.

  • Design and implement wireless data network in support of school’s future 1-to-1 mobile device deployment
  • Effectively regulate student access to services, educational resources and outside Internet
  • Upgrade legacy Ethernet data switches for lower costs, ease of maintenance, more robust feature set

  • Replaced legacy network switches with Juniper EX3300/4200 Ethernet infrastructure
  • Implemented highly resilient Aruba wireless architecture in wide range of campus locations
  • Configured network solution sets to deliver highly granular security control to school district
  • Provided necessary training, direct access to engineers to ensure comfort with new technology
