CBS Super Bowl XLIV - Day 19
February 07, 2010
Our “trailer” community is holding at about (850). We processed 14,813 calls today.
Security was totally intense. Person, credentials, bar code and complete (empty your bag and pockets) search, and finally airport type screen machine.
Hours before the game started there were FBI, ATF, Homeland Security, Police, Fire, Rescue everywhere. In all the Super Bowl’s I have been in, I have never seen anything as overwhelming as what I witnessed today.
Cell towers reached capacity and started creating dead spots on cell calls around 4:30 PM and this went on till past 10:30 PM.
In the end, we passed all of the game day challenges. All the hard work, dedication, attention to details and the long hours paid off. Great game!
“People that Matter”
Milton Paris is a simple man with very simple needs. He wants to spend more time with his wife and kids, and he would love to be able to go deep sea fishing a lot more. His day job is Public Safety Director for Miami Gardens. His biggest client is Sun Life Stadium. His biggest headache is this Sunday’s Super Bowl. He will be sitting high atop the stadium on game day not far from the Sky Cam guy, and that is where I met him early this morning as he was conducting a conference call with his team. He has a group of five, plus 12-volunteers from an adjacent town’s fire department working today. They will have the support of all the local police, FBI and Homeland Security. From his vantage point he will be looking over the entire stadium through his high powered binoculars and keeping the day in check from his command position. Like rest of us, all Milton wants is for everyone to have a good time and not get hurt. As I told you, he is a simple guy.
Stay tuned, the pictures get better!
