CBS Super Bowl XLIV - Day 6

January 25, 2010

Security has added an additional 20-minutes to our trip to the stadium. We now have our person and our bags searched. Typically, this level of scrutiny would not start for another week, but due to the Pro Bowl this Sunday, security was heightened today.

Rain and tornado warnings this morning. We could not bring any of our cables over the “cable bridge.” The tornado never happened, but the rain hampered our ability outside.

We are in really good shape at the CBS Compound. No complaints today. Nearly (300) telephones now have dial tone, and all of the executive offices including the secretarial pool are 100%.

On our last trailer at the CBS Compound on Day 4, our techs encountered black widow spiders (about 12 of them) nesting in the under carriage of the trailer. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Derek was bitten by “fire ants” on Day 3. Not fun working under those trailers.

We completed (30) CATV cable pulls and installed (5) sections of fiber.

It was pretty scary this morning when we heard the tornado warning. We thought our trailers would be airborne by the time we got to the stadium. For those of us who work indoors, we take so much for granted. The weather has such an impact on most everything we do here.

Stay tuned, the pictures get better!
