CBS Super Bowl XLIV - Day 7
January 26, 2010
We finally completed our cable pulls over the “cable bridge” including our 300-pair voice connection between the CBS Compound and the stadium. All (362) stations (assuredly this number will grow before game day) at the CBS Compound now have dial tone.
We completed our fiber pulls and CATV pulls at the CBS Compound. All terminated and certified.
Our work at the production hotel continued with voice, data and CATV cable pulls. We should complete this site on Wednesday. This will allow us 2-techs at the stadium and the other five will focus on South Beach. Pray for good weather!
Four of CBS’ mobile units rolled in today. We were ready with our dial tone connections. The CBS commissary opened this morning. This means hot coffee, drinks and hot meals from 6:00 AM till 8:00 PM every day up until 02-03-10, when the commissary will be open 24x7 through game day.
We ran our cables to the most remote “camera perches” in the stadium and connected them on the far end. The opposite ends are laying on the ground where the “director’s mobile unit will be parked in the next couple of days.
The arrival of the (4) mobile units (6-more are coming tomorrow) today triggers a sequence of events for all of us. The mobile units signify “game on”. This is the first wave of critical, technical production folks on the scene. Even though they have been here before, camera measurements and camera angles will be taken anew. Sound checks, lighting, and a host of intricate details that will surely heightened the viewing and sound quality of the game will be checked over and over to insure perfection.
Stay tuned, the pictures get better!
