On November 10 and 11, we were pleased to sponsor the National Intercollegiate Sales Competition (NISC) at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI.

The NISC is a sales competition in which students compete for cash prizes in a tournament-style format. The two-day event provides personalized coaching to enhance sales skills and leadership, while emphasizing using social media as an important sales tool.

Twenty-five colleges from around the country and Canada had student sales teams competing in a role play sales competition. More than 200 students competed in the event, with each presenting themselves as a Carousel sales rep selling a security application into a medical facility.

In preparing for the event, I personally trained all the colleges and universities participants using Carousel sales best practices and modern collaboration technology, like several live WebEx trainings. We also developed a microsite that students could visit to register, review case studies, and other supporting material.

Using their real-life experience in interacting with customers and prospects, 16 Carousel inside sales reps played the role of customer during the competition. After four grueling elimination rounds, the Bryant University team took first and second place for individual sellers, and also finished as the top university overall. Our own inside sales reps Alex Paxman and Anthony Ciampa were the final two reps in the championship part of the competition.

The two-day event was great exposure for potential employees to the Carousel sales program. We’re proud that our own inside sales team is comprised of many local colleges and universities and we look forward to the continued partnership with these schools.
